Tim studied the social and cultural dimensions of sustainability and socio-technical innovation at Maastricht University. As part of his half-time involvement as junior researcher in TRANSIT he is working mainly with Rene Kemp on synthesizing case research and macro-trends in society, as well as engaging practitioners in transdisciplinary research. Tim is involved as a practitioner himself within the social enterprise rootAbility, where he supports students & staff to embed sustainability within universities across Europe by facilitating workshops and building a network. rootAbility is very similar in its Transformative Social Innovation strategy to many of the TRANSIT cases and as such facing very similar challenges. This enables him to take a transdisciplinary action-research role, whereby his theoretical and practical commitments are supporting each other.
