Since 2011, Sabine has been working as a Research Fellow for the Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex. Her work focuses on the emergence and development of grassroots innovations in the context of community energy (as part of the Community Innovations in Sustainable Energy project) and community-based digital fabrication workshops (as part of the Transformative Social Innovation Theory project and Sussex Energy Group’s End Use Energy Demand Research Centre). Prior to joining SPRU, Sabine completed a EPSRC funded PhD in Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University, examining the potential in applying an approach inspired by practice theory to everyday routines to inform sustainable design/ consumption strategies and before that, she completed a BA (Hons) in (Eco) Design at Goldsmiths College, London, and worked for design studios and research units.
