SIE in Berlin: Exploring Ecosystems for Social Innovation

Julia Wittmayer (Drift) attended a small gathering of expert social innovation thinkers and practitioners from across Europe to discuss how to create an effective ecosystem for social innovation, organized by SIX and the BMW Foundation.

The guiding questions were:

• How can we create an effective ecosystem for social innovation in Europe?
• What are the roles for governments, civil servants, businesses and foundations?
• How can we think differently about new funding models, managing risk and creating a culture of innovation?
• How can we better work across silos and collaborate to develop a more holistic and joined up system of support in
  Europe?
