This is a CTP of initiative: INFORSE - Ecoserveis (Spain)

1992: Founding Ecoserveis   Ecoserveis was born in 1992 to work in renewable energy but without focus only in technology or commercial projects. Ecoserveis positions itself halfway between research and marketing. The founders were two engineers who wanted to work this field outside the university, where they were doing research. The main objectives was to offer training, information and education to normal citizens.

Co-production

Ecoserveis learned of the work of Folkecenter in Denmark and got inspiration, shortly after the foundation Ecoserveis joined Inforse because they shared the same goals and aspirations.

Related events

The founders of Ecoserveis wanted to also generate conditions for cooperatives of citizens to develop, construct and operate windmills for the generation of electricity. The Danish initiative was part of Inforse and when Ecoserveis learned of their existence they joined as the network’s objectives are in line with Ecoserveis’ aspirations.

Contestation

It can be stated that the idea was to cover more than just technological development and commercial uses. In this sense Ecoserveis is in itself a contestation to the usual investment of ressources in these areas.

Anticipation

The event was the formalization of an answer to a recognized problem: the lack of information and education among citizens.

Learning

In the beginning, the projects were mainly concentrated in generating and supporting local energy agencies through diverse projects. This was the focus because the European Union supported these kind of projectslike REU, ALTENER and TERMI.
