SIC/Social Innovation Community: connecting the dots between social innovation networks in Europe

August 17 2016

SIC social innovation community
The soon-to-be-launching Social Innovation Community is bound to build an enabling environment for social innovation and forge new connections between European networks. This new community aims to link existing networks and strengthen these bonds, to fully explore their potential, to generate new social innovations and to spread knowledge more effectively.

Run by a consortium of twelve organisations in Europe (among which DRIFT/Dutch Research Institute for Transitions - TRANSIT partner) and funded by the European Commission, SIC’s launching event will take place between 26 and 28 September, at La Tricoterie, in Brussels, Belgium. At the launch, participants will be introduced to a framework for a common understanding of social innovation. You will also be able to find out about past trends, latest developments and new methodologies for establishing future priorities.

What’s more, this is not a singular event. The first SIC Summer School on Urban Social Innovation will be held between 20 and 24th of September. Set up in partnership with Tilburg University, this summer school will offer participants the chance to attend presentations from seven European cities (Dortmund, London, Turin, Sestao, Vienna, Helsinki and Zagreb), four key note speeches from professionals in the field and three workshops for SI solutions for urban contexts.
